Is it true? That moment when you drop your warm buttered toast, there’s no time to whip up another and you quickly pick it up and pretend it never happened. Your toddler drops the entire morning tea from the high chair and you have nothing else in the fridge! Is it OK to snatch it from the floor?

The answer is YES!

Researchers from Aston University in the UK concluded that dropping food and quickly grabbing it would have significantly less bacteria such as E. coli and S. aureus if you dropped it and picked it up after 30 seconds. It’s not to say you are 100% safe, there is never a guarantee, however if you drop it at home and know how clean the floor is it’s ok to make a quick judgement call.

The added bonus is kids need a little germs in their lives to help promote a healthy gut, I have a wonderful post all about kids and gut health, you can read all about it here.
